Welcome Fellow Helmsmen. Welcome friends, captains, and commanders

Welcome to This Sales Life. If you landed here: one of the words above describes you. Yes, you. The helmsman is the person at the helm, the person in charge, the person who steers the ship, boat, plane, space shuttle, or for our purposes here…their own life.

In life, you are the person who charts the course. No one else. Yet many of us unknowingly allow other people, large entities, or society to determine our futures. We don’t realize that taking charge and commandeering the ship ourselves is even an option. We passively accept things that “happen to us”, when we could—and should—be motivated to create our own futures.

This Sales Life is a space that will coach and train you to successfully steer your career, while remembering that life is a laboratory and things are always changing. We must keep experimenting, gathering data, testing our hypotheses and adjusting along the way. Keeping an open mind, trying new things, failing and trying again are all imperative to a flourishing career.

This Sales Life’s mission is to provide bite-sized tools, information and advice for curious sales professionals to chart their success over a lifelong career.

We envision a world where well-rounded individuals serve others in jobs they love while living multi-faceted, less stressed lives.

We value...

1. Hard Work. We believe in critical, creative, and reality-based thinking, not in tips, tricks or a quick fix.

2. Small Steps. We know that big changes are the accumulation of many small actions. We take one day at a time to inch toward the reality of our goals.

3. Service. We seek to change the landscape of sales by providing clarity to our clients and focusing on their needs first.

4. Curiosity. We see sales professionals as one part investigator, one part psychologist and one part scientist. We prioritize asking questions to learn who our clients are and what needs they have.

5. Growth. As humans, we understand that we never arrive but are always changing. We choose to invest in ourselves professionally and personally throughout our careers.
